The Diversity Of The Community - 940 Words
Today, many people and groups stress to their communities the importance of diversity but this primarily focused on the diversity of race. In particular socioeconomic class diversity is important because of the benefits created and the potential boost that our economy could have from it. Communities and housing involves the gathering of people and groups therefore we should look at the importance of diversity in this area. While some families of higher socioeconomic class believe that living among the less fortunate will interfere with their lifestyle, it actually strengthens the economy and grows people understand each other, therefore policies that regulate housing in specific can help end housing segregation. It is essential that we learn about what diversity really means in housing and why there is such an emphases on it today. Diversity in housing means having a variety of different people living in the same community and neighborhood. This means a variety of different races, cultures, gender, socioeconomic status as well as many other identities that people contain. Diversity among socioeconomic status and background is often overlooked but there are many benefits to this concept. Human interaction among people of different socioeconomic statuses include the learning of different ways of living. People also learn about different cultures and often can even generate new ideas from different experiences, becoming innovative. W.
